For 17 days straight, the Olympics was all anyone could think about, and even now, we’re still in awe over the amazing talent showcased by the sportsmen and women who represented our country, bringing home an impressive 22 bronze, 21 silver and 22 gold medals in the process. And with so much excitement surrounding this long-awaited sporting event, Hog Roast Northwich had, of course, been called in to help out our fellow Cheshire residents with hosting their Olympic-inspired events ahead of the big finale on August 8th!
On the day of the closing ceremony, in particular, we were very lucky that the intermittent rain showers had subsided just long enough to allow residents across the county the chance to celebrate Team GB’s success outdoors, and among the many bookings we received for that day came a request from client’s Paula and Stephen.
As avid Olympic fans, the pair had been waiting five long years for the event, and to celebrate the closing ceremony, they had invited their friends and relatives over for a fun-filled garden party, complete with a super-tasty hog roast from Hog Roast Northwich. And David, who is our catering manager here, was able to help the pair discover their dream menu, which just so happened to be our Classic Hog Roast feast.
The spread, which centres around our signature slow-roasted free-range pig with classic hog roast sides (think savoury stuffing, applesauce and crackling), was ideal for the laid-back vibe the couple had in mind – and it certainly offered plenty of food for all 50-something people who had confirmed their attendance!
With so much to do, and so little time, David and the Hog Roast Northwich team had spent all morning cooking the flavoursome food for the party, and they even managed to find time to spare to rustle up some of our hickory-steeped BBQ pulled jackfruit rolls with a crunchy coleslaw dressing to ensure the vegan guests weren’t left out, in addition to a couple of mixed salad options and a delicious potato dish.
Everyone was in agreement that the hog roast was the perfect finishing touch to the party, and Paula and Stephen couldn’t thank David and the team enough for all their hard work!
