Newlyweds Sally and Mark, whose wedding we had the pleasure of catering for last week, were far from our own wedding catering clients who had got in touch with us in a bit of a panic after the limitations of wedding party sizes and social distancing requirements were introduced. They were faced with the same dilemma shared by so many other couples who have been due to get married over the past few months -should they make lots of changes to their plans so it can still go ahead, or should they postpone it for a late date? The couple agreed that they didn’t want to delay their wedding and after speaking to us here at Hog Roast Hartford, they felt very relieved that we had the flexibility to make any necessary changes to the food and service, and ensure all required restrictions were in place, without it diminishing the enjoyment of the couple’s special day for them or the smaller number of guests who were able to attend.
The biggest change we were required to help Sally and Mark with, was the decision to change the type of menu they had originally opted for. They had chosen one of our elegant 3 course meals for 100 guests, along with an evening buffet, but as they had to whittle their guest list down to just 15 family members and very close friends, they thought that this would be too much, Instead, they asked to us only provide the evening buffet option, which consisted of a relaxed yet stylish buffet of our handmade sausages served in bread rolls with a range of sauces and accompaniments, served with jacket potato wedges, and a vibrant selection of fresh salads, all made at their venue on the day using the best seasonal and locally sourced produce. Rather than being disappointed that their wedding reception was quite different from the one they had originally organised, the couple had a lovely time, and the food was a big hit with everyone! They were very grateful to the Hog Roast Hartford team for our flexibility and professionalism, so much so that they told us they are planning to hire use to cater for a big party for everyone who missed out on coming to the wedding as soon as all the restrictions on social gatherings are lifted!
