Winter School Fair Catering By Hog Roast St Helens!

Hog Roast St Helens has spent many years catering to the masses and that includes public events as well as private ones. We’ve provided tasty food for many a birthday, christening, wedding, anniversary, engagement and retirement party, as well as so much more, but we have also been called upon to do the same for functions such as school fairs. We recently catered a school fair that was raising funds for much-need equipment and they asked us to cook our yummy pigs in buns for most of the attendees but to also provide alternatives for vegetarians and gluten-free sufferers too.

You may be surprised to hear that Hog Roast St Helens can provide such alternative dishes but we’ve been in business long enough to know that not everyone has the same tastes and not everyone is able to eat the same food as everyone else. In terms of catering for your gluten-free guests, they will be happy to know that our pigs in buns are suitable as long as we bring along gluten-free bread rolls for their food, as all the other ingredients are already suitable. When it comes to vegetarians we actually offer lots of options, including stuffed mushrooms and peppers, quiche and burgers, but one very popular option, and the one chosen by event planner Christine for this school fair, is our veggie skewers. With tasty chunks of halloumi cheese and fresh seasonal vegetables, vegetarians and carnivores alike tend to love them.

On the day of the fair, Hog Roast St Helens arrived at the school venue hours before service and met up with Christine. She set us up in a great position in the playground near the outdoor heaters, though once the two hogs started cooking we wouldn’t need the heat from them. After preparing the meat and starting them roasting, we got talking to some fellow businesses who had been invited to attend and before we knew it, it was an hour away from serving time. We cracked on with dishing up lots of lovely apple sauce and stuffing, slicing both lots of bread rolls and grilling the skewers, and then it was time to feed the hordes.
