Euro 2012 – Broadbottom Pig Roast Catering Event

Well that’s the football over with. We’ve seen teams chasing Spain around the pitch and toiling for 90 minutes as the Iberian pass masters toyed with them. And we’ve seen England given the run around by less auspicious teams like Sweden and Ukraine, yet somehow we’re now up to fourth in the FIFA rankings! Still, it does make us proud
– now for the World Cup!

If you’re wondering how this has anything to do with our hog roast Broadbottom business at hog roast Broadbottom , I should explain that we catered for six events during Euro 2012 and, not surprisingly, the football was generally central to proceedings. We catered for three small fairs, a village event and two 18th birthday parties – in fact, you could say we were busier than a Spanish midfielder throughout June!

At one of the 18th parties, there was a big screen showing the England match and we wisely served the buffet 40 minutes before kick off. People barely left their seats during the game but the open-range cooked, succulent hog roast was picked clean by half time. There can be no greater compliment to our food than that. We also provided barbecued chicken and fish, as well as a wide range of general Broadbottom buffet foods and received compliments on our food throughout. (One guest was so besotted by our slowly roasted meat that she asked for our website details so she could order her own Spitting Pig roasting equipment.)

The football was less of a distraction at the other 18th birthday party (well, I didn’t see any Czech or Polish guests!) but all of the food went down equally well. It’s always fun and fulfilling to cater for birthday parties. We arrive hours before they start in order to prepare and slowly cook hog roast Broadbottom pigs. This takes hours but it is always done at the venue, as indeed all our cooking is.

As we’re there readying delicious food for the party guests, we see bare halls and rooms transformed – with balloons going up, banners draped, tables set, every little fine touch. And every single time, those family members doing the setting up drift over to us (led by the seductive smells) to ask for some of our succulent, seasoned meat. But alas we can’t. We’re not teases, it just takes time to get right. Still, those same people are straight over on the night and often come back for seconds too!

We used our Spitting Pig event catering trailer at the other events in June, and were equally busy despite the distraction of England playing a quarter final. Every other face coming up to the trailer was painted red and white, and we even got into the occasion ourselves, wearing red and white bowler hats.

It was another tournament of what ifs for England, but I’d like to think we helped dissolve some of the fans’ disappointment with mouth-watering food, cooked in a traditional way. We now look forward to a busy July, where we are catering at Broadbottom racecourse, local fairs and weddings. We can’t do much about the weather but we can promise succulent hog roast Broadbottom food, cooked on the day using fresh local products. And there won’t be a penalty shootout in sight!
