Back in the late twenties, Cheshire’s Festival Hall on Talbot Road was built with the sole purpose of being a dancehall for the local community, but after receiving a facelift in 2015, it is now best known for hosting a range of events from fashion shows and orchestral concerts to birthday parties and weddings. As the venue’s resident event coordinator, Fiona has played a vital role in organising her fair share of these special occasions and after recently being asked to arrange the reception party for a couple’s wedding, she reached out to discuss catering options with our team at Hog Roast Wilmslow.
Taking the lead on the event was our highly experienced catering manager Paul who was able to quickly recommend our menu option 4 which offers a more formal sit-down menu that is highly popular among brides and grooms who want their wedding to be as traditional as possible. After agreeing that the menu fit the couple’s theme and budget perfectly, Fiona arranged a follow-up meeting with Paul to finalise the details and keeping the lovebirds’ brief in mind, she chose to incorporate freshly tossed tomato and mozzarella salad, pasta salad, creamy coleslaw, chips and baby roasted potatoes to the classic hog roast feast which ensured there was something on the menu for each of the 130 guests who had been invited to commemorate the couple’s love for each other.
Preparing to serve the buffet at 8 pm, Hog Roast Wilmslow arrived at the reception venue six hours ahead of time, giving them plenty of freedom to effortlessly create the highly-anticipated roast, delicious side dishes and the meat-free alternative of grilled vegetable skewers with optional haloumi. With the food kept piping hot in the chafing dishes, all that was left for the team to do was set out the China crockery and cutlery and wait for the wedding party to arrive.
When the newlyweds and the guests made their grand entrance, they were immediately blown away by the spread that had been lovingly prepared by Hog Roast Wilmslow and in between dancing the night away, they sated their appetites with generous helpings of the delicious food.
