For August there were many events that I could tell you about, but of the 20 plus hog roast jobs there was 1 in particular that I’ve decided to talk about. The first hog roast Farndon event was in the first week of last month and was for a double birthday party in Farndon, unusually enough, a husband and a wife. The husband, Peter, was celebrating his 40th birthday and his wife, Megan, turned 36. The party was a smallish one and the venue was their lovely house, with guests being mainly compromised of family and close friends.
The countryside Farndon view from their stunning home was the perfect backdrop for a hog roast Farndon catering, the menu for the event was Party Menu 3, a simple enough menu with sensational flavours to make better any party event.
I was the chef and I cooked the chosen Spit roasted pig which was served with stuffing, apple sauce and extra-crispy crackling. The roast pig came with bread rolls, fresh of course, a selection of excellent complimentary sauces, two different salad options and served-warm new potatoes in Spitting Pigs fresh herb butter.
The menu included crockery, serving tables, napkins, myself as the Spitting Pig chef, and a catering assistant who helped me with preparation and carved the succulent, bronzed pig.
With the chef assistants help we cooked everything fresh on site from its original raw state, bedazzling Peter, Megan and all of their guests with a Spitting Pig hog roast Farndon spectacle. It was all eyes on us as the party guests grew hungrier with each passing hour, their eyes intensely focused on the pig as it roasted away. I’m sure they felt tortured by the wait for the hog roast but the time waited for serving time would have only added to their experience when we began serving the spit pig meal. My suspicion was right, because after what seemed like only a few blinks the guests had devoured everything we’d put in front of them. Spit pork sandwich after sandwich was served and consumed in next to no time. There were 60 guests, but you wouldn’t have known it with how quickly they put away the pig we cooked, it seemed with the pace they were eating that there was an extra 100 people there.
You can imagine that for me and the chef assistant we had a great time at our first ever double husband and wife birthday party hog roast. We’re hoping that with the guests and Pete and Meg enjoying the hog roast catering so much that we’ll be getting another booking in future when Megan turns 40.
I’ll be back the same time next month with even more hog roast updates.
